CupExS, standing for Cup of Experimental Science, is a science tournament specially designed for school students. It's a venue for young scientists, engineers, and innovators to dive into natural sciences through a focus on experiments.
The CupExS tournament presents participants with challenging scientific problems, encompassing both pre-announced problems and those introduced during the tournament days. These problems require theoretical understanding, as well as practical experimentation to solve.
Throughout the tournament, participants will take on three roles: a reporter, an opponent, and a reviewer. This structure promotes active engagement, critical thinking, and constructive feedback among participants.
The primary goal of CupExS is to provide a platform for young individuals to showcase their scientific knowledge, creativity, and ability to collaborate. Besides competing, participants have the opportunity to connect with peers and professionals who share their passion for science, thus creating a network that could benefit them in their future endeavors.
CupExS is not only a competition but a learning experience aimed at fostering a community of young innovators and thinkers. Through this tournament, we aim to encourage participants to explore the wonders of science in a hands-on and collaborative environment.
Our team has an impressive track record successfully organizing major scientific tournaments. We served as the primary organizers for the 10th International Young Naturalists' Tournament (IYNT 2022) conducted in Tskneti. Furthermore, our contributions played a significant role in esteemed events, such as the 15th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2022) and the 34th International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT 2021). Moreover, we undertook the planning of a national scientific tournament scheduled for Georgia in May 2023.
Leveraging our extensive experience, this summer we are launching an all-new international tournament, CupExS (Cup of Experimental Science). The tournament will be accompanied by an engaging, interactive pre-higher education lecture course designed to immerse high school students in complex topics and equip them with foundational knowledge to get the most out of the event.
Through organizing tournaments like IYNT and launching new initiatives like CupExS, our team continues demonstrating its dedication and ability to connect students to science on national and global scales. Our experience and passion equip us to create engaging, educational events that inspire the next generation.
I had the opportunity to observe the work of members of this team over the years during IYPT 2021, IOAA 2022 and IYNT 2021. I have also had the honour of attending the CUPEXS preparation process and without any doubts, they can make this tournament truly outstanding.
The CUPEXS competition takes things up a notch by requiring students not only to present their theoretical research reports but also to conduct live physical experiments in defense of their research. The competition is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who are unafraid to think outside the box and tackle problems head-on. CUPEXS is a testament to the unbridled potential of the human mind, pushing the boundaries of what we know and inspiring future generations of scientific pioneers. Our experience with IYNT 2022 was a refreshing departure from the conventional monotony of exam-oriented Olympiads, and we are confident that this team will take CUPEXS and future projects to the highest levels.
IYNT Tskneti 2023 has been definitely one of the most interesting, inspiring yet fun competitions held in Buckswood School in Tbilisi. These brilliant and motivated students from all around the world were hosted by hard-working and determined organizers, jurors and volunteers from Georgia. After the closing ceremony, I saw happy and bright faces of our guests who left our country with the greatest will to visit us again!
Dear friends, When a young, talented and experienced team of organizers come up with an idea of a new science competition, it becomes a privilege to see how a vibrant idea comes to fruition and attracts many followers and new friends. CUPEXS is an exciting new competition which is founded and shaped by a team of truly exceptional organizers. I hope that CUPEXS attracts many curious young participants through its special atmosphere and intriguing complex problems. I encourage teams to become first-time participants of CUPEXS and I applaud the work of organizers who wish to make CUPEXS a unique story of success.
